I like to talk about the books that I read. If you've read the same book go ahead and discuss the funny parts, interesting word play, or basically anything you want about it! Honestly! I don't care. I have my mind in the book!

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

So I re read this book for two reasons. One, because they made a movie, and two, because they made a fourth book. I haven't read this book since I read the third one about two years ago because the third one made me cry (I wont say why until I re read that one, which I plan to). I like the story and the characters so much though that when I found out there was a fourth one I was glad I didn't burn the books......Yeah I didn't like the third one so much I was considering it, which is sad because every book is like my bible so.... but yeah. I like Lena but sometimes every thing is to dramatic and they should dial it down...at least in this one. Oh, and by the way, the movie sucks. Well....it's a good movie but things are really different than the book and the only things that are the same are in different places and completely switched around. The graphics are good and the story is good....it's just different than the book. Yeah, if you've seen it, what did you think compared to the book?

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy

Description
The richly exotic story of the childhood the twins Esthappen and Rahel craft for themselves amongst India's vats of banana jam and mountains of peppercorns. Repackaged as part of the 2008 Perennial fiction promotion. More magical than Mistry, more of a rollicking good read than Rushdie, more nerve-tinglingly imagined than Naipaul, here, perhaps, is the greatest Indian novel by a woman. Arundhati Roy has written an astonishingly rich, fertile novel, teeming with life, colour, heart-stopping language, wry comedy and a hint of magical realism. Set against a background of political turbulence in Kerala, Southern India, 'The God of Small Things' tells the story of twins Esthappen and Rahel. Among the vats of banana jam and heaps of peppercorns in their grandmother's factory, they try to craft a childhood for themselves amidst what constitutes their family -- their lonely, lovely mother, their beloved Uncle Chacko (pickle-baron, radical Marxist and bottom-pincher) and their avowed enemy; Baby Kochamma (ex-nun and incumbent grand-aunt).
Opinion
I don't like this book at all. Just because an author uses good descriptions doesn't mean the book will be good. The book has a lot of terrible things in it. (SPOILER ALERT) Like, one of the kids are molested, another one dies, and the other one grows up to be emotionally detached which leads to the divorce between her and her husband....Just because the author describes in detail how these kid's lives are ruined doesn't mean it's a good book. That's like saying "the piece of crap looks like chocolate ice cream that means it must taste like it, too." I read it for school and I absolutely hated it.
Another thing that really annoys me is the way the author completely (over and over again) focuses a lot of her attention on balls. Not like basketballs or soccer balls. No, man balls. It's disgusting. Pth. I'll probably never read this book again.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolken
Description
Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.
Opinion
I originally read this book because I saw the movie. The movie was pretty awesome but I hadn't read the book because I didn't like the Lord of the Rings movies. I thought the hobbit (the book) was OK, but it wasn't great enough to read the rest of the series. It was close, don't get me wrong, but I'm more of a Harry Potter girl more than a Lord of the Rings girl. I liked Bilbo as a character though. He is a lot less of a baby then Frodo I think. Bilbo doesn't die a lot like Frodo does. I mean, he is constantly talking about wanting to go to back to his warm fireplace at home and feel the grass under his feet, but who doesn't? Who doesn't want to be home when things aren't going so well where you're at. I also think the dwarves are really kind of self centered. Bilbo saves their lives a couple times and their not really thankful for that until a while afterwards. Like, there's this time where Bilbo breaks them out of an imprisonment (not going to say how they got there) and the only way he does that is by hiding them away in empty barrels that are thrown into a river and then collected by people who live down the river a ways from where they were imprisoned; and all the dwarves can do is grumble about how their barrels were uncomfortable. This really made me made because Bilbo got out by hanging on to the barrels from the outside and was soaked from steering them around everywhere because he couldn't hide himself inside a barrel. Not only that but Bilbo got sick because of that, and still all they could do was grumble until THEY got warm. MEAN! lol Ok, so I think the author is really good at making you connect to the characters....obviously. But again, it wasn't one of my favorite books.

Paranormalacy by Kiersten White
Description
Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only one who can see through glamours.
But now Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and cryptic messages—and she’s realizing that she may be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
Opinion
Ok! I have to admit! This was an awesome book. I dont know though the fight scene that the rest of the book's dramatic effect so drawn out wasn't as big as I thought it should have been. It was good, dont get me wrong. they just made it look like it was going to be bigger than it actually was. Evie reminded me of...well, me in a couple of ways. She loves to shop and her favorite color is pink. I dont know....that was pretty awesome in my opinion. I dont think I could make the same decisions as her though. Although.....who wouldn't want a mermaid as a friend? Oh! did I reveal something?

In a Glass Grimmly by Adam Gidwitz
Description
Take caution ahead--
Oversize plant life, eerie amphibious royalty, and fear-inducing creatures abound.
Lest you enter with dread.
Follow Jack and Jill as they enter startling new landscapes that may (or may not) be scary, bloody, terrifying, and altogether true.
Step lively, dear reader . . .
Happily ever after isn't cutting it anymore.
In this companion novel to Adam Gidwitz's widely acclaimed, award-winning debut, A Tale Dark & Grimm, Jack and Jill explore a new set of tales from the Brothers Grimm and others, including Jack and the Beanstalk and The Frog Prince.
Opinion
I love how these tales dont hide the gruesome things like cutting off body parts (not that that happenes) or getting burned by dragon fire and the pain that comes with it. Most of all though I love that these books- these fairy tales-, besides the pain and terribleness, still teach valuable life lessons. Whether it's how to "under-stand" someone (not at all like understanding them) or how to not become "con-fused" (which isn't anything like being confused). It's a really nice way of combining the fairy tales of old and the tales of new with a couple songs and rhyms of now and then also.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas
Description
Dashing young Edmond Dantès has everything. He is engaged to a beautiful woman, is about to become the captain of a ship, and is well liked by almost everyone. But his perfect life is shattered when he is framed by a jealous rival and thrown into a dark prison cell for 14 years.
The greatest tale of betrayal, adventure, and revenge ever written, The Count of Monte Cristo continues to dazzle readers with its thrilling and memorable scenes, including Dantès’s miraculous escape from prison, his amazing discovery of a vast hidden treasure, and his transformation into the mysterious and wealthy Count of Monte Cristo—a man whose astonishing thirst for vengeance is as cruel as it is just.
Opinion
I read this book for an English class a couple years ago and.....I've loved it ever since. This book has love, betrayal, revenge, duels.....it has everything. It's written in a romantic way and mixed with old politics and stuff. You even get into the whole Napolean Bonapart stuff, which is pretty cool in my opinion. I just love how this book ends too. It's so romantic! Throughout the book you're right there with Edmond Dantès trying to get revenge and, if you're like me and extremely emotional, crying with him, too.

Neferet’s true nature has been revealed to the Vampyre High Council, so Zoey and the gang might finally get some help in defending themselves and their beloved school against a gathering evil that grows stronger every day. And they’ll need it, because Neferet’s not going down without a fight. Chaos reigns at the House of Night.
Opinion
This was one of my fav.s of the House of Night Series. Although you get really pissed at Nefferet and really kind of like the High Counsil. I really like what the high counsil does to neferet. dont worry they dont kill her but what they do is really amusing to me. Anyways, The Tsi Sigili's power's are really pronounced in this book and you finally get to see Heath's presense more. What I like the most about this book is the fact that Nyx talks to Zoey more, which is cool. Oh, and I'm not saying what goes on, but Erubus is present in this book. And, just saying from my perspective, Erubus is kinda not ok in this book. Like he doesn't really care as much as he should.....Just saying.....That's ALL I'm saying lol. Cant wait to read the next book.

The House of Night Series by P.C. Cast
Ok, so well, I've read these books so many times that I didn't think it was necessary to write down all of them and put my opinion. As you can see if you have read my info page and stuff, I love this series. The only reason I'm puting up this post is to explain away why I most likly wont be posting for about a week or two. I'm going to be reading and posting my opinion of the 10th book in the series when I finish with the other books. So here's my opinions of each book.
Opinion
1. Marked: started cool for a first book in the series. Got to the info really fast which i like.
2. Betrayed: get to finally find out what exactly is going on (kinda) like the questions (good cliff hangers)
3. Chosen: one of my least fav's of the series. Zoey is kinda slutty.....just saying....she has three boyfriends at one time and even though they explain it away with a "it's complicated" it all boils down to the fact that she's still kinda slutty.
4. Untamed: Really like this one. I like Sons of Erubus and meeting the High Priestess of all vampires was awesome. Really get into the Cherokee stuff which, to me, is awesome because that's what I like.
5. Hunted: this is the one Zoey gets tatoos on her hands. This is also the one where she almost dies.....sorry but that's a really good part in the book. Really meet Kalona. Oh, and Heath is brought back into the mix....not saying how though. Big war scene at the end of the book.
6. Tempted: The Isle of Sky. Zoey's soul shatters because someone she cares about dies by the hands of Kalona.....not saying who dies....Oh and Stevie Ray and the bird boy (Rephium's) relationship begins.
7. Burned: This book is really about Stevie Ray more than Zoey. I dont really care for this book. I like Zoey as a main character so when they kinda made Stevie Ray the main character for this book....this is my least fav book in the series.
8. Awakened: Zoey's back, but everything is now ok. Kalona is still here, and Neferet is more evil than ever before. This book was ok but kind of dragged. It seemed like they did this story line before. This is more about Stevie Ray again.
9. Destined: I cry my eyes out during this book everytime I read it because of who dies. Well, two someone's die in this book, and bothe of them sad. One more sad than the other yet the other one is sad because of what the person was doing when she died. Kalona is kinda good, only because he hates Neferet too soo.....kinda like "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing going on. Oh, and Heath is....kinda.....back in this one.

Scar Night by Alan Campbell
Description
Suspended by chains over a seemingly bottomless abyss, the ancient city of Deepgate is home to a young angel, an assassin, and a psychotic murderer hungry for revenge—or redemption. But soon a shocking betrayal will unite all three in a desperate quest....
The last of his line, Dill is descended from legendary Battle-archons who once defended the city. Forbidden to fly and untrained even to wield the great sword inherited from his forebears, he has become a figurehead for a dying tradition. Now he lives a sheltered existence in one of Deepgate’s crumbling temple spires under the watchful eye of the Presbyter who rules the city.
Spine assassin Rachel Hael has better things to do than oversee the Presbyter’s angel. Each dark moon she must fight for her life among the city chains, hunting an immortal predator with a taste for blood.
But when a traitor brings enemies to Deepgate’s doorstep, Dill and Rachel are forced into an uneasy alliance with the city’s oldest and most dangerous foe. They must journey down into the uncharted chasm to save their sprawling metropolis—and themselves—from annihilation. Once they descend however, they learn that what lies below is far more sinister than what they’ve been taught to expect.
Opinion
This book was ok. I was a little bit bored throughout the whole book but it was ok. I liked the talk about angels but I dont really like the way they portray gods. Humans in this book are locked out of heaven by a god and the other god (sorry for spoiler) that they think is trying to help them gain access into heaven actually wants to take control of the world......so......yeah I dont really care for that part but the story line is ok. The second book might contain romance (not saying between who) but they way this book ended kind of makes me not really excited about the next book (which I dont have). I dont know there wasn't really a cliff hanger at the end of the book.

Frankenstein by: Mary Shelley
Description
Few creatures of horror have seized readers' imaginations and held them for so long as the anguished monster of Shelley's Frankenstein. The story of Victor Frankenstein's monstrous creation and the havoc it caused has enthralled generations of readers and inspired countless writers of horror and suspense.
Opinion
So, I obviously picked this because I thought it was going to be like one of the many movies made about it, but no. It's extremely different. I actually didn't really like this book. First of all, I think it's weird when authors write in second person ( "I" and "you" like their talking to the reader). It's just weird. The monster and victor frankenstein both talk like their talking to the reader. Walton though, he just writes letters to his sister but that's all of his involvment. It's a weird book that I expected to like but ended up not likeing at all. It dragged on for seemingly eternity. I wouldn't really suggest reading this one.

The Unholy by Heather Graham
Description
The 1940s: Hard-boiled detectives and femmes fatale are box-office gold. In one iconic scene, set in a deserted museum, the private eye arrives too late, and the buxom beauty is throttled by an ominous Egyptian priest.
Now: The Black Box Cinema immortalizes Hollywood's Golden Age in its gallery of film noir tributes. But the mannequin of that Egyptian priest is hardly lifeless.
He walks—and a young starlet dies a terrifying death.
Movie mogul Eddie Archer's son is charged with the grisly murder. Eddie calls agent Sean Cameron, who specializes in irregular investigations. As part of an FBI paranormal forensics team, Cameron knows that nightmares aren't limited to the silver screen.
Working with special-effects artist Madison Darvil—who has her own otherworldly gifts—Cameron delves into the malevolent force animating more than one movie monster.…
Opinion
I wasn't really excited to read this book. First, I'm inbetween books so I never really want to read a book that has only one book and no series. I personally like series' more than anything. Second, my aunt gave me the book and lets just say I usually dont really like the books that she reads and gives to me (I, of course, would never tell her this). and Third, I dont like film noir movies. You know the detective movies, where it's all black and white and after asking the big breasted woman what happened and she tells him some convoluted story of a monster coming to life, a narrator does a voice over with the "I didn't know if I should believe her but her eyes were telling me that she truly believed what she was saying" and you wanna just scream at him that "yeah right I know you wern't even lookin at her eyes!".....yeah those movies! I really dont like those! After reading I thought the book was.....ok. Would I read it again? No probably not. It was ok and the story was good but.....not good enough to read again.

My Wicked Vampire by Nina Bangs
Description
The Castle of Dark Dreams is just part of an adult theme park, right? The most decadent attraction in a place where people go to play out their wildest erotic fantasies. Holgarth isn't really a wacky wizard, and Sparkle Stardust doesn't actually create cosmic chaos by hooking up completely mismatched couples. And that naked guy chained up in the dungeon? No way he's a vampire.
Wrong…dead wrong, as botanist Cinn Airmid is about to find out. Ok, ok, I know. You dont have to yell at me.....this....is the fourth book in the series! and no! I didn't read the first ones. so sue me. I dont have the first ones. I felt like I was missing some things but what i didn't know was easy for me to guess at while reading. it's really easy to follow. I loved it though! I love the romance, fighting, and.....the romance and fighting. I said that already? lol well that's what I like! anyways. yeah! Dacian is awesome! Cinn....she is as far from my personality as you can get. I dont know if we'd ever get along....let's see someone who could just touch a plant and it dies (that's me) friends with someone who has a green thumb to the point where she not only grows plants but enhances them?.....no. no i dont think so. story is amazing though! love it! gotta get the other ones!

So, as you see, the back of the book didn't really give that great of a discription. So, sad to say, but I was forced to judge the book by it's cover. Fortunatly for the author, the front of the book looks awesome. I'm ok reading whatever books sounds good at the moment so going from a fary tale to a fantasy was pretty easy for me. I mean heck I'm about to read a romance and that's after a fantasy book. I can easily say though that if you do not like fantasy books this book might be still ok. It has different mythical creatures that are awesome but if you dont have the other books in the series I wouldn't start this one...I learned that the hard way. Yeah get to the end of this book and it cuts off with a classic "to be continued" you know the ones where something big is going on and - Pth! "that's it? Is there a missing page? No?" throw the book across the room- kind of ending. The beggining of the book was good though, but there was some things that they put in that made me think there was a book before this one (which I knew there wasn't) because of how they said it. like; "I was the one who killed my mother last year" and your like......."wait what? when did this happen? why wasn't I informed of this earlier?" like you would say if someone told you that prom was last weekend. confused and then pissed that no one informed you of it earlier. Over all the book was good but I cant finnish the story because I dont have the other books.........oh well. I'll just read this one again when I get them!

A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz
Description
In this mischievous and utterly original debut, Hansel and Gretel walk out of their own story and into eight other classic Grimm-inspired tales. As readers follow the siblings through a forest brimming with menacing foes, they learn the true story behind (and beyond) the bread crumbs, edible houses, and outwitted witches.
Fairy tales have never been more irreverent or subversive as Hansel and Gretel learn to take charge of their destinies and become the clever architects of their own happily ever after.
Opinion
Ok, so I admit it. I was sceptical when beggining this book. Teenager reading a fairy tale? As I read the last page though......oh....My....GOD!!! It was so good I almost started reading it all over again. No joke! I loved it that much. The only thing I can think of that's bad about this book is the fact that every parent or adult is terrible child murdurers....and that this particular child story is not really good for children to read unless the child was like me when I was a child. This particular gory horror filled fairy tale would have been the perfect book for me....but I was a weird child so I'd read it first yourself before deciding whether or not to let a child read it....just saying.

Opinion
I've always loved Shakespeare. In fact, I'm in highschool and I've read more Shakespeare novels than my teacher. Talk about awesome. I've read; Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Ceaser, Midsummer Night's Dream, Romio and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, Othello, and I'm about to read Hamlet in class. I think there's more but i dont know for sure. That's my list, and out of all those Shakespeare books my favorite is and always has been Othello. I don't know about you but I love to read books with romance, tragedy, betrayal, revenge, and all of those things are included in this play. I love to read and watch the double sides of Iago and, most of all, I think his double sides are very acurate to real life. Think about it like high school. People talk behind other peoples backs all the time. Mostly it's about relationships. "Oooooo [this person] is cheating on [this person]" or "I cant believe [this person] is actually dating [this person], what a whore (or any other mean thing someone can think of)" Usually these comments are made out of jellousy or just someone trying to mess with someone's life. It happens all the time, and to read about it like it happened back then too? Makes you think about how much this world really needs to evolve.

Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
Description
Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.
It's been only months since Eragon first uttered "brisingr," the ancient language term for fire. Since then, he's not only learned to create magic with words-he's been challenged to his very core. Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.
First is Eragon's oath to his cousin, Roran: to help rescue Roran's beloved from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength-as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices-choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.
Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

So I am currently reading the fourth one because this one was so good I just couldn't wait to do the blog first and then start the fourth book. It was a good book but I thought it was a little repetative with all the stuff they were saying. I was sad when I found out theat Oromis died though and I'm only typing that in here because if you don't know about Oromis then you havn't read the books really and shouldn't be looking at the third book review if you havn't read the second book. Just a tip I'm bad at putting up spoiler alerts before I write them down so just get used to it. Anyways yeah obviously there is a lot of information when you read this one that you need to know before you read the fourth one but all the other stuff is kinda repetative. all in all this book is essential to read when you read the series but one of my favorites int he series.

I love this book!!! OMG and the thing they tell you at the end of the book!? ahhhh. Of course, I'm not gonna tell you what that thing they tell you at the end of the book is because that would ruin it but OMG...... anyways, while reading this book I realized that there is NO WAY they are going to make the rest of the Eragon series into movies. That is unless they remake the first one. They left so much important stuff out of the first movie that the second movie wouldn't make sense at all. I like the connection between Eragon and Saphira in this one. They are connected like one mind instead of two, it's really cool how they describe it. I also like how they brought Roran and the rest of Carvahall into this book. It really brings a depth into the book that you don't see in a lot of other books. Cant wait to read the next one, that's all I gotta say. and again "the thing they tell you at the end of the book!!!!! That's so weird" and I hate that one guy that I'm not gonna tell you the name of cause that would also ruin it......Just read the darn book for yourslf! Jeesh lol!

Opinion
I put off reading this for a long time because I saw the movie. To me the movie was....terrible. I hated it. There wasn't much to like because the whole story was missing. Without reading the book I could tell that the movie left a lot of stuff that was in the books out. So my aunt read this book just a little while before I did and was telling me how good the book was. My first opinion of the book before I read this book was not good. But as I read from cover to cover I got ingrained with the story of the dragons (not the cute barely ferocious dragons but the actually scary and intelligent dragons from the book)and the rider. I learned the history of the riders and all of the other stuff I'm not gonna tell you because I don't want to give anything away. I learned Brom's story as they introduced charectors that wern't even in the movie...I was awestruck by just how AWESOME this whole world is. It's amazing, it truely is. I would recomend this book to anyone.
